The National Centre of Meteorology (NMC) has predicted that due to the impact of tropical cyclone “Maha” of the first type in the Arabian Sea, the eastern coast is expected to witness high tide from Monday until Wednesday.

The NCM on Sunday explained that the wind speed around the centre of the tropical cyclone is estimated between 120-130 km/h. It is moving north-west to the middle of the Arabian Sea. It is expected to recede to the second type with winds speed estimated between 160-170 km/h over the next 24 hours. It may then veers toward northeast on Tuesday.

The Centre confirmed that it is following up the situation around the clock to provide the latest developments, appealing to the public to follow up the bulletins and reports issued by the NCM and not to spread rumors.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority called on the public to exercise caution and stay away from the shores of the eastern coasts during that period.

On the other hand, the NCM said that the weather on Monday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy especially eastwards. Humid by night and Tuesday morning over some coastal and internal areas with probability of fog formation. Light to moderate easterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, with a speed of 18–28, reaching 36km/hr.

Partially closed

The Integrated Transport Centre announced that the Turaif-Madinat Zayed Road (E45) would be partially closed in order to carry out maintenance to the entrance to Madinat Zayed/Al Dhafra Region between 5am on Monday (Nov.11) and 6pm on Thursday (Nov.14).

The centre explained that the closure would cover the slope leading to Ghayathi and one lane on the right side leading to Liwa, calling on road users to exercise extreme caution and follow the traffic safety guidelines.
