A woman implicated in robbing a trader of his capital inside a brothel in Dubai has seen a $8,800 fine added to her original punishment.

An African woman – a visitor, 26 –  teamed up with several fugitive countrywomen to rob a Tajik man, 29 inside a massage spa/brothel in Naif area at around 10pm on Mar.3, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on May 28.

The fugitives clutched him. She seized a body part to overpower him. They searched his clothes and snatched $8,800 and Dhs5,400. The baffled man chased her down the street with his innerwear in his hand.

During court questioning, the defendant confessed to the two counts of practising prostitution and taking part in robbery. The Criminal Court sentenced her to six months in prison to be followed by deportation.  Prosecutors appealed demanding the Dubai Appeals Court to hand her a tougher punishment. The Appeals Court has modified the punishment by ordering her to additionally pay a $8,800 (Dhs32,300) fine.

On the record, the trader went to Naif area to purchase electronic devices to take to his homeland. A wholesaler asked him to wait for two hours for them to be readied. He started strolling to pass time.

The defendant met him and offered to massage him. She took him inside an apartment at a Naif area building. It was demarcated into sections using curtains. He paid Dhs10 for a massage. She told him to disrobe.

During the service she suddenly did wrong things to him. He pushed her away.  He was trying to dress up when two women showed up from behind the curtains, pushed him down on the bed and clutched his arms.

The defendant grabbed him offensively to subdue him. They emptied his pockets. He chased them while calling upon pedestrians to intercept her. She ran calling upon a countryman to get money from her and run.

Pedestrians and a police patrol joined the chase. They seized her. A Yemeni warrant officer said, “We were on patrol on Al Musalla Street when we saw a man with an innerwear in his hand running after a woman.”

A Yemeni corporal said, “The defendant said that after the massage they had a consensual affair during which her countrywomen robbed him.” Police apprehended her countryman and recovered Dhs5,935.

They combed the apartment and seized prostitution paraphernalia. A report from the forensic department showed the trader sustained a contusion on his left upper arm.

The defendant’s countryman was let off after he argued that he did not know her, “She called upon me and handed me the money. I did not know why.”
