The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (Epaa) is participating in Wetex, the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and held at Dubai World Trade Centre from October 21st to 23rd.

At Wetex, Epaa is targeting VIP visitors and delegations, the employees of government and local organisations, and students.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Epaa Chairperson, said, “We are always keen to participate in Wetex, a vital platform for the latest energy and water-related technology. Wetex is an opportunity to meet with experts and exchange ideas, experiences and best practices, and a chance to promote Epaa’s programmes, activities and efforts.”

Al Suwaidi explained that Epaa is promoting its centres and protected areas’ awareness campaigns and efforts to preserve the environment. The Authority is also sharing information about environmental conservation efforts and raising awareness about the ways in which Epaa protects and preserves the environment and conserves biodiversity.

In addition, Epaa is showcasing initiatives that aim to raise awareness about the importance of the environment, the need to protect and preserve it, sustainable development and rationalisation.

She pointed out that Wetex makes it possible to communicate directly with the public. Epaa is showing a film and distributing brochures about the Authority and its centres and protected areas.

Epaa aims to highlight the local plants that should be grown instead of ornamental plants that pose a threat to the environment and to groundwater supplies. Epaa presented an important scientific study entitled ‘Local Plants are the Solution’, which recommends using local plants rather than ornamental plants to decorate roadsides and gardens.
