Truly charity knows no boundaries. Whether there is a crisis or disaster that affects thousands, there is always an outpouring of support and help. The UAE is a shining model of generosity in this regard, where residents driven by a compassionate spirit are only too eager to help those in dire trouble. In the latest manifestation of charitable support, a massive sandwich, the Lebanon Bologna sandwich, was made by a large group of volunteers in America for a noble cause: to help people deal with food insecurity in the Lebanon Valley.

The 150-foot-long (45.7-metre-long) sandwich was created on Tuesday night at the Lebanon Area Fair by a large crew of volunteers known as the "Bologna Security.”

Lebanon Bologna is known for its distinct smoked and tangy flavour.

Every foot-long "bite” was sponsored at $100 per foot. The money was donated to Lebanon County Christian Ministries.

The sandwich was unveiled at a fair in central Pennsylvania. Interestingly, the fair was held at a place called Lebanon, which is 72 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The volunteers used 600 slices of Provolone cheese and 1,200 slices of half-sweet and original Seltzer’s Lebanon Bologna to create 900 sandwiches, or six sandwiches per foot, according to the Associated Press.

However, the record for making the longest sandwich in the world goes to Dubai. Thirteen years ago, the emirate on Thursday witnessed the making of a 2.667km-long sandwich that smashed a Guinness world record.
