Travel may be the last thing on your mind at the moment, but that shouldn’t stop you from gawking at gorgeous locations on Instagram for future travel inspiration.

So the Big 7 Travel went headlong to curate what has become an annual hashtag tally, analysing which cities hold the most ‘gram appeal, surveying readers and debating which spots are the most, well, Instagrammable, according to Tribune News Service.

Dubai has made it to the list for its uber-luxe glamour. TNS

Tokyo tops the 2021 rankings with more than 53 million #tokyo hashtags and awe-inspiring sights. Dubai too features prominently in the list.

Among Tokyo's attractions are the sacred Shinto shrines, the buzzy, neon-lit Harajuku district, and sleek skyscrapers that form the backdrop for serene Japanese gardens.

Instagrammed Tokyo isn’t the real deal, of course, but it offers plenty of virtual delight.

The full list includes 50 destinations on nearly every continent — as you might expect, Antarctic hashtags are in short supply.

The Philippines came second on the list.
