Caffeinated Canvases, a coffee painting curatorial project by Art4you Gallery is being hosted at Design Gallery, Ras Al Khaimah. Opened May 23, the exhibition is curated by Jesno Jackson and “every stroke is brewed to perfection here,” she says. The show explores coffee as an artistic medium, bringing together international and UAE-based artists through coffee painting, live art activations and immersive coffee culture experiences.
“The project is part of our larger Coffee Art Marathon initiative promoting sustainable and alternative art practices,” says Jesno. “We believe this innovative concept aligns with cultural storytelling, creativity, and community engagement.”
The exhibition brings together artists, collectors, cultural supporters and art enthusiasts, to celebrate women’s narratives through coffee paintings. It enables viewers to experience coffee in a different way, both as a beverage and an artistic language, in a world where it is frequently encountered through aroma, ritual, and discussion.

Coffee’s incredible capacity to convey memory, emotion, culture and creativity in every sepia-toned stroke, is being shown through this curatorial effort that turns coffee from cup to canvas. It is an immersive celebration of art, coffee culture and connection. The project turns coffee into both medium and metaphor, a symbol of warmth, reflection, journeys, and shared experiences that transcends borders. The artworks presented in the exhibition explore coffee beyond its material form. Artists have used coffee pigments to create landscapes, cultural narratives, portraits, nature studies, heritage reflections, and conceptual expressions.
The natural gradients of coffee, ranging from delicate amber washes to deep roasted browns, bring an organic richness that cannot be replicated by any other drink. Each stain, layer and texture, carries a sense of unpredictability, allowing the medium itself to become part of the storytelling process. Coffee painting is an accessible, eco-friendly art form that uses brewed coffee as a medium to create monochromatic, sepia-toned artwork. Unlike conventional painting, coffee art embraces imperfection as beauty. The fluidity of the medium mirrors life itself, evolving and blending, and leaving traces of interactive experience. Each artwork in Caffeinated Canvases is an invitation to rediscover the poetic possibilities hidden within the everyday ritual of coffee drinking.

The project brings together a diverse group of 21 artists whose creative journeys intersect through the language of coffee art. Participating artists include Vasilisa Eliseeva, Cristina Gabriela, Perihan Marwan, Nataliia Venerova, Rahazhynskaya Aliaksandra, Nithin Umesh, Maii Opuk, Thomas Antony, Maria Rybalova, Abduljabbar Weiss, Elias Avad, Lavanya Varma, Jesno Jackson, Alice Zakaryan, Shaf Beypore, Varvara Baiganova, Roya Vahidi, Aliyeh Mohammad, Barathi Annamalai Mehansi, Alisa Volnova and Davyd Rybalov, besides other talented creatives, each contributing a distinctive voice, technique and narrative, that enriches the collective experience of the exhibition.
Adding another thoughtful dimension to the exhibition, a curated display of coffee-themed postcards is being presented, offering visitors intimate artistic impressions in a smaller yet equally expressive format. The postcards are miniature windows into the world of coffee art, with landscapes, cultural elements, memories, and creative narratives featuring in the warm sepia language of coffee. The artworks celebrate the beauty of detail and the timeless charm of handcrafted visual storytelling. Beyond visual appreciation, the exhibition inaugural also hosted events such as coffee cupping, live music, guided exhibition tours, artist interactions, live painting, doodling mug, pottery on wheels and networking sessions. In all, they created a multisensory atmosphere where art and coffee culture coexisted harmoniously.

Another highlight of Caffeinated Canvases is the collaboration with coffee partner The Chronicle, which brought an authentic coffee culture experience to the exhibition through an engaging coffee cupping session in association with Victoria Arduino. Led by Puja Thapaliya and Darj Sonam, the session offered guests an immersive journey into the sensory world of coffee, exploring aroma profiles, flavour notes, origins, and brewing nuances. It created a bridge between the artistry of coffee preparation and the array of artistic expressions displayed in the gallery. Adding to the atmosphere of the opening evening, guests were welcomed into a captivating cultural experience through a live oud performance. The warm resonance of the instrument healthily complemented the sepia narratives of the coffee artworks, creating a harmonious dialogue between visual art, music, and heritage.
The performance transformed the gallery space into an immersive environment where creativity was not only seen, but also heard and felt. The inaugural was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Mohammad Ahmed Al Kheet, Advisor for Diwan Affairs in Ras Al Khaimah and former Director of the Department of Antiques and Museums, Ras Al Khaimah. His longstanding contribution to culture, heritage and the preservation of history, has played a significant role in enriching the emirate’s cultural landscape. The exhibition was also enhanced by the presence of Guest of Honour Al Jaffili, renowned actor and cultural personality, alongside Dr. Heike Lieb-Wilson, entrepreneur, who was also a speaker, sharing insights and contributing to the intellectual and cultural exchange of the evening.

Caffeinated Canvases celebrates Ras Al Khaimah as an emerging destination for creative dialogue and cultural exchange. Supported by Design Gallery Founder Tariq Al Salman, the exhibition reflects a growing movement that values innovation, artistic experimentation, and community engagement. “As curator, this project was envisioned to encourage artists and audiences to see familiar materials through unfamiliar perspectives,” says Jesno. “Coffee, often associated with beginnings, conversations and pauses in our daily lives, now finds a new identity as a creative force.” The art was painted and brewed through Coffee Art Marathon Edition 2, an initiative by Rengi Cherian and Jesno Jackson, Founders, Art4you Gallery.
