The 161st birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated at the Indian Consulate, Dubai with the release of 3 iconic songs in an album titled “Tagore beyond horizon.” It’s the first time that three songs by Tagore has been translated into Arabic and presented.

Noted Emirati poet Dr Shihab Ghanem did the translation.

Dev Chakraborty composed and curated the songs and the Arabic vocals were done by the Guinness World Records holder, Suchetha Satish.

Consul General of India Aman Puri released the song today officially at the Indian Consulate Auditorium.

The Consul for Culture, Tadu Mamu, presiding over the function said that Tagore is the most prominent symbol of Indian renaissance.

He made immense contribution to the development of a musical tradition that was rooted in the land and its people.  

Suchetha and Dev Chakaraborty together presented the beautifully composed songs in Bengali and Arabic.

The three songs, ‘Ekla chalore, Aloker ei and Nai nai bhoy’ are aimed at strengthening the India UAE cultural ties.

The trio of DR Ghanem, Dev and Suchetha are already working on more songs by Tagore translated to Arabic.

Eminent personalities from both UAE and India graced the occasion.
