Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday toured Gitex Global 2022, the world’s largest technology show being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Sheikh Mansoor said that Dubai’s comprehensive development journey and its adoption of the latest technologies reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The emirate’s emergence as a hub for global tech companies and app developers has further strengthened its position at the forefront of the digital transformation, he said.

He highlighted the significance of Gitex Global 2022 as the world’s largest technology show that brings together companies at the forefront of innovation in the sector to network and explore new partnerships that contribute to shaping a better future for societies.

The biggest edition in the event’s history, the 42nd edition of Gitex Global has brought together 5,000 leading technology companies from more than 90 countries. The event, being held from 10-14 October 2022, is set to bring together more than 100,000 attendees from 170 countries.

During his visit, he toured the exhibition area accompanied by Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed toured the pavilions of a number of companies at GITEX GLOBAL where he was briefed about the cutting-edge technology solutions and digital products displayed at the event. Sheikh Mansoor visited the pavilions of G42, where he learned about the company’s products and solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. His Highness also toured the pavilions of Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute, Dell, Honeywell, and Ericsson.

At the Huawei stand, which represents its largest-ever participation in the technology show, His Highness viewed the company’s metaverse, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions and applications. Sheikh Mansoor also visited e&’s stand where he was given a glimpse into the future of mobility as demonstrated by a fully autonomous electric vehicle developed through a collaboration between Cadillac Arabia and e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group).

Forescout Technologies: Forescout Technologies, the global leader in automated cybersecurity, released its findings about the riskiest devices in enterprise networks in 2022 at Gitex.

In this region, network-attached storage is the riskiest and these devices often have both easy-to-exploit vulnerabilities and internet connectivity, thus they are constantly targeted by threat actors for ransomware, botnets, crypto mining, or simply data destruction.

“At Forescout, we are keen to raise awareness and let government entities and businesses know exactly where the vulnerabilities lie with their network. Our research team has done a fantastic job identifying which industry verticals are being targeted relentlessly and which connected devices are most at risk, globally and here across the region,” commented Ihab Moawad, Vice President, Forescout, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.

Manufacturing has the highest percentage of devices with high risk (11%), while government and financial have the top combinations of medium and high risk (43% for government and 37% for financial). Healthcare and retail have the lowest risk overall, with 20% of devices having medium or high risk in healthcare and 18% in retail.

The ranking of riskiest devices does not change considerably per industry, which shows that almost every organization nowadays relies on a combination of IT, IoT, and OT (as well as IoMT for healthcare) to deliver their business. It also means that almost every organization is affected by a growing attack surface. “Gitex gives us this global platform to showcase our Automated Cybersecurity Solutions that protect any digital terrain.
