Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), in cooperation with the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai, on Thursday hosted a high-level Canadian tech delegation of businesswomen and entrepreneurs led by Marcy Grossman, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE.

The delegates represent 6 companies from the Tech Sector in Canada to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation in modern and digital technologies.

A business meeting took place bringing together members of the visiting delegation with their DBWC counterparts to discuss economic partnerships and cooperation opportunities.

Dr Raja Al Gurg, President of the Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), received the visiting delegation. The two sides explored the possibilities of economic partnerships in the tech sector and reviewed Dubai’s economic landscape that supports emerging technologies and opportunities for Canadian companies to expand in Dubai’s market.

“Dubai is an icon and incubator hub for businesswomen and entrepreneurs that lead giant tech companies, thanks to its sophisticated business environment that supports the success and thrive of all foreign companies,” said Al Gurg.

Al Gurg added that Dubai is the global capital of the digital economy and the home of exceptional success stories for foreign and local digital economy companies, calling on Canadian companies to set up their businesses and companies in Dubai.

She continued to say: “Dubai enjoys a rich cultural diverse society, numerous emerging opportunities, and a vibrant business community that supports innovation in the tech sector. The UAE ranked tenth globally and first regionally in the World Digital Competitiveness Report 2021.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been challenging for business communities when it comes to ensuring business continuity, but we have turned the challenge into opportunities. Our investment in the digital economy and its advanced infrastructure has been crucial in enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness as a capital of the digital economy and a hub for global tech companies.

Al Gurg underscored the DBWC’s commitment to providing support and resources to help Canadian tech companies establish business partnerships and grow in Dubai, hailing the cooperation with the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai in organizing the visit and achieving common goals.

Marcy Grossman, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE, lauded the DBWC’s efforts in facilitating business partnerships, supporting businesswomen, and helping companies identify lucrative business opportunities.

She pointed to the importance of the visit in entrenching bilateral relations between the business communities in Canada and Dubai, thereby serving the common interests.

Grossman stated that Canadian tech companies have extensive experience in technology and the digital economy enabling them to compete and succeed in the Dubai market, stressing that the language of the economy and business bridges distances between people and bring together creative and innovative minds.

The visiting delegation 6 Canadian tech companies, including CREO, Feminuity, Industrial Web Apps, Peer Ledger, Orchid Analytics and Taktical Studio.
