The past year has not been short of celebrity news. This week we are taking a look at some of the most surprising famous breakups that happened over the past 12 months.

One of the biggest shockers came in the form of “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner and singer Joe Jonas. After a series of negative press headlines, it was confirmed that the couple were calling it quits after a four-year marriage and two young daughters. It may have come down to a clash of cultures with the couple disagreeing over where to bring up their children, in Sophie’s native England or America with Joe’s family.

Another celebrity breakup that dominated headlines for months was that of Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner. There were huge disputes between the pair who were married for nearly 19 years and share three children together. In the end Costner got what he was legally entitled to and Baumgartner had to comply.

Britney Spears is never really out of the news for one reason or another, but the last big story was her spilt with her husband Sam Asghari. I don’t think many people had much hope for this couple to begin with, but it still came as a surprise. The one good thing is that Asghari has not spoken to the media about Britney and her troubles.
