Three behind bars for attempting to rob deliveryman under duress

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a gang of three Asians to three months in jail to be followed by deportation for attempting to rob a deliveryman of Dhs1,000 under duress after they had ordered a meal from a restaurant he was working for.

The verdict was upheld by the Court of Appeal.

The case dates back to August last year when a deliveryman reported to the police that three men had assaulted him and attempted to rob him of Dhs1,000 when they took him by surprise while delivering a meal in Bur Dubai area.

The victim stated in the interrogations that the gang members took him by surprise in a sand area before he arrived at the delivery destination. He, however, resisted them before one of them attempted to assault him with a knife and injured him in his hand, he said.
