Eight put behind bars in theft case in Dubai

The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a ruling issued by the Criminal Court sentencing a gang of eight Asians to six months in jail to be followed by deportation and fining them Dhs207,000 after all the eight persons were convicted of stealing electrical cables worth the same amount of the fine from a warehouse in Al Quoz Industrial Area.

According to an earlier report, cables worth Dhs207,000 had been stolen from a warehouse of a real estate company based in Al Quoz Industrial Area. The perpetrators broke the electrical room and were able to enter the warehouse.

A policeman said in the investigations that a team of detectives gathered evidence until they were able to reach the convicts and arrested three of them. The convicts confessed to the charge levelled against them and led the team to the remaining members of the gang, who were arrested in another emirate.

On interrogation, the convicts said they went at night to a warehouse that belonged to a real estate company in the Al Quoz Industrial Area. They then went to the electrical room and were able to break the lock of the door, using iron scissors, a crowbar and a hammer, and enter the maintenance room. There, they opened the covers of the boxes of the electric switches, seized the electrical cables, and fled.

They added that one of them was the mastermind of the theft who led them to steal electrical cables in the Al Quoz Industrial Area.
