Stranded Pakistanis elated at succour

Pakistanis who want to go back to their home country are following the directions issued by the Pakistan mission in the UAE. Just a couple of days back, the Consulate in Dubai and Northern Emirates through its various social media platforms asked community members to get registration for special flights that will take them to Pakistan.

Responding to Gulf Today, Ashique Sheikh, Press Counsellor at the Consulate in Dubai said that they issued directives through different social media pages of consulate for community members to fill out the request form for going back to Pakistan through special flights of the Government of Pakistan.

“In the last couple of days, the consulate has received enormous response from the stranded community members to show their interest to get seats on special flights. We have got over 5000 registration by filled out forms in Urdu and English by the community members who want to return to Pakistan,” he said.

Since the suspension of flights in March, a large number of Pakistanis are worried to fly back home as there are many who had visit visas.

Ahmed Amjad Ali, Consul General through his message to media has assured to arrange special flights for deserving community members as the number of registration on dedicated social media is increasing.

Earlier, the press section of the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai has set up exclusive Whatsapp group (+971563962911) to respond to the queries of needy community members round the clock.

Gyan Chand, Head of Chancellery, said to Gulf Today that those who registered with the Consulate for priority seats in upcoming special flights would soon be informed through the Facebook page and social media.

Meanwhile, the consulate in collaboration with philanthropists from the community has initiated a free food distribution drive to help the needy Pakistanis.

A large number of people have appreciated and extended their facilitation for this initiative through various social media platforms.
