Ministry of health issues circular for medication

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection allowed the patients who have been prescribed controlled medication to have the medicine in one package for three months.

The ministry said in a circular issued that the patient can send a copy of his identity to the health facility, with the treating doctor, at least two days before the date of renewing the prescribed medicines, to register the prescription in the electronic platform in advance. The ministry stated that medications can be received after providing a copy of the patient’s identity without being present.

The Dubai Health Authority also issued a circular to all professionals and private health facilities licensed by the authority in the emirate, regarding instructions and precautionary measures to address the emerging corona (COVID-19).

The authority said that patients are not required to attend the clinic or hospital as they are allowed to receive the medicines through delivery at home, or by another person on his behalf.

The circular also indicated the necessity of stopping all cosmetic procedures in health facilities such as hair removal, botox, filler, facelift, hair transplantation, etc., besides all alternative and complementary medicine services such as “Ayurveda”, homeopathy, physiotherapy, Acupuncture, and herbs and Greek medicine.

The instructions stressed that receiving patients in dental centres and clinics is limited to urgent cases.

The Ministry of Interior said on Tuesday that wearing masks is a necessity only for individuals suffering from chronic diseases and those with flu symptoms rather than the rest of other segments of society, according to the guidelines of the World Health Organisation.

This was announced by the Ministry further to its earlier circular on the same subject and in response to public queries about the conditions of wearing masks as part of the precautionary and preventive measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19.
