Volunteer responders trained by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services helped save a man who passed out at a beachfront in Al Sufouh area, officials announced on Wednesday.
Both female Emirati volunteers quickly responded to the emergency condition and helped treat him thanks to training they received from the corporation under the Volunteer First Responders programme in this regard.
Both Sheikha and Abeer immediately contacted the corporation to dispatch paramedics to rush the patient to hospital. They said they were quick to rescue using skills learned in the first emergency response session. I contacted the police operations room and provided police with the patient’s data, details of his condition and the place where he collapsed. This contributed greatly to the timely arrival of paramedics,” explained Sheikha.
On her part, Abeer added that she was at the scene when she spotted a man suddenly falling on the ground. “I quickly checked his vital signs and degree of consciousness then gave details of his condition to the operations room.”
Both thanked God that they contributed to the man’s rescue, and thanked the Ambulance Corporation for its role in rehabilitating and preparing them for the noble humanitarian work of carrying out rescue missions and aiding patients.
The Director of the Department of Training and Continuing Education, Talib Ghalum Talib, said the Ambulance Corporation in cooperation with the Community Development Authority attracted volunteers to perform basic emergency tasks.
“The move greatly contributed to increasing the number of paramedics ready to deal with different situations. It is a great tribute to the UAE community, which seeks to secure people and cover their celebrations and various occasions,” he noted.
Manal Al Ali, Head of the Volunteer Management Department, explained that the training programme aims to provide the best emergency medical services, in order to offer pre-hospital healthcare in accordance with international standards.
