Around 400 students from Gems Our Own Indian School in Al Quoz showcased their Wushu Kung Fu Taolu skills as part of their preparations for the upcoming Interclub Wushu Kung Fu Championship.
The demonstration was attended by Salem Hamdan Al Ameri, founder of the Arab Wushu Kung Fu Association and the first Emirati Wushu judge and referee recognised by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF). Also present were Sifu Don Tiran Thakshala and Ravindra Bandanage, director of FITDXB and a South Asian gold medallist in Wushu Kung Fu Sanda.
The students performed a series of Taolu routines, demonstrating focus, coordination, flexibility and discipline. The showcase provided the young athletes with an opportunity to build confidence, refine their techniques and gain valuable experience ahead of the forthcoming interclub championship.
The students are being trained by instructors affiliated with Cobra Kai Fitness Dubai and FITDXB, with sessions focusing on technical development, physical fitness and competition readiness.
The event forms part of the Wushu Kung Fu promotional initiatives conducted by the Arab Wushu Kung Fu Association, which is recognised by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) in the UAE. The programme is being conducted under the guidance of Yuping Zhang, IWUF General Secretary.
The participation of around 400 students highlights the growing interest in Wushu Kung Fu among schoolchildren in the UAE. The initiative also reflects the school's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, discipline, teamwork and sporting excellence through martial arts.
