The Emirates Aerosports Federation has reaffirmed its commitment to developing national talent, expanding participation and enhancing competition standards while prioritising safety, marking International Air Sports Day on October 14.
Nasser Hamouda Al Neyadi, President of the Emirates Aerosports Federation, said the federation was working to develop national talent, support athletes, improve training standards and organise championships, helping to broaden participation, attract young talent and strengthen the UAE’s presence on the international stage.
He added that the UAE’s achievements in air sports reflected the support of the wise leadership and its vision to empower young people, develop the sports sector and host major international events. He also highlighted the importance of the occasion in raising awareness of the diverse disciplines within air sports and encouraging younger generations to take part in an organised and safe environment.
Yousef Al Hammadi, President of the Asian Air Sports Federation, Vice President of the Emirates Aerosports Federation and Vice President of the Arab Air Sports Federation, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among national, regional and international federations, exchanging expertise, developing training programmes and organising competitions.
He said such efforts would expand opportunities for young people and women to participate while promoting a culture of safety and fostering connections among peoples.
Al Hammadi noted that air sports encompass a wide range of disciplines, including skydiving, paragliding, paramotoring, model aircraft and drones. This diversity, he said, creates broader opportunities to attract new participants and increase community involvement.
Mohammed Yousef, Secretary-General of the Emirates Aerosports Federation, said developing technical and administrative personnel and supporting training programmes were central to the federation’s plans. He added that the federation was also working to strengthen cooperation with clubs and relevant organisations to raise awareness of air sports and expand participation, particularly among young people.
He further stated that the federation was committed to improving competition standards and implementing safety and organisational requirements. He praised the efforts of athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers and partners in supporting events and advancing air sports across the UAE.
