As part of efforts to strengthen the strong relationship and explore avenues for greater cooperation between Dubai Police and the UAE Karate Federation, a high-level delegation from the federation, headed by Major General (Ret.) Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the World Karate Federation, paid an official visit to the Dubai Police Academy.
The delegation was received by Major General Badran Al Shamsi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academy and Training Affairs at Dubai Police.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Ahmed Mirdas, Director of the General Department of Training at Dubai Police; Brigadier Dr. Jassem Mohammed, Deputy Director of the Training Department; Major Ahmed Al Bahr, Director of the Sports Excellence Centre; Captain Abdullah Jassim Al Muhairi, Head of the Sports Training Section; and International Referee Jaber Al Zaabi, Chairman of the UAE Referees Committee, Vice Chairman of the Asian Karate Federation Referees Committee and a member of the World Karate Federation Referees Committee, along with a number of officers and officials from the academy.
The visit aimed to explore ways of strengthening cooperation in the field of karate and discuss mechanisms to support and further develop the sport in the UAE. The discussions focused on enhancing the national sports movement and consolidating the strategic partnership between the two sides.
The two parties also discussed areas of mutual interest and ways to make use of the capabilities, expertise and resources available to both institutions. The cooperation aims to support the promotion of karate and the development of qualified coaches and athletes in line with the highest international standards.
The UAE Karate Federation delegation also included Rashid Abdulmajid Al Ali, Vice President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Executive Board Member of the World Karate Federation; Marwan Sankal, Vice President of the UAE Karate Federation and an experienced engineer; and Mohammed Abbas, Executive Director of the federation.
Speaking on the occasion, Razooqi expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Dubai Police for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. He stressed the importance of the visit in strengthening the partnership and cooperation between the federation and the academy, highlighting the academy’s pivotal role in supporting and developing karate in the UAE.
For his part, Major General Badran Al Shamsi welcomed the UAE Karate Federation delegation and praised the federation’s leading role in promoting and developing the sport. He reaffirmed Dubai Police’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with various sports institutions and organisations in support of the UAE’s sporting movement.
At the conclusion of the visit, Major General Razouqi and Major General Badran Al Shamsi exchanged commemorative shields in recognition of their efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.
The UAE Karate Federation also presented honorary 7th Dan black belt certificates to Major General Badran Al Shamsi and Brigadier Ahmed Mirdas in recognition of their support and commitment to the sport.
