Fujairah Martial Arts Club has achieved a new global sporting milestone by winning first place at the 2026 SPIA Middle East Sports Industry Awards, one of the most prominent specialized sports awards in the region.
The bagged the first place after strong competition that included some of the largest sporting events and institutions, both regional and international.
This achievement builds on the global success of the 12th Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championship (G2), which has established itself as one of the world’s leading taekwondo tournaments. The event entered the Guinness World Records as the largest taekwondo championship in terms of the number of participants, attracting champions and national teams from across the globe each year.
This has made it a global model of sports organization and institutional excellence.
The awards shortlist included some of the region’s most prestigious tournaments and sports institutions, such as: the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2025, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; the 3rd Asian Youth Games, Bahrain 2025; Abu Dhabi Combat Week 2025, organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism; the Dubai World Cup, organized by the Dubai Racing Club; the 12th Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championship (G2), organized by Fujairah Martial Arts Club; the GKA Fahd Island Water Sports Festival 2025, organized by GMBH Events; the HH UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses; and the Egyptian Super Cup for Champions 2025, organized by the UAE Professional League.
Nader Abu Shawish, Director of Fujairah Martial Arts Club, emphasized that this achievement reflects the ambitious vision and continuous support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Club President, which has contributed to building a global sports ecosystem capable of international competition and achievement.
He said: "We are proud of this great achievement, which confirms that the Fujairah Open Championship has become one of the best taekwondo tournaments in the world and has reached the level of competing for and winning global awards. This success is a direct result of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Club President, who believed in the importance of investing in sports and creating a global sports model that carries the name of Fujairah and the UAE to international platforms."
