In a thrilling semi-final showdown that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Kalba’s youth handball team punched their ticket to the UAE Federation Cup final with a gritty 27–24 victory over Al Wasl.
They displayed exceptional defensive discipline and clinical finishing to overcome a resilient Al Wasl side in a high-stakes encounter.
Kalba now turns their attention to a daunting final against Sharjah, the reigning Youth Handball League champions.
The match was officiated by international referee Omar Al Marzouqi, assisted by continental referee Shehab Ahmed.
The match was recorded by Marwan Ali, timed by Khamis Al Ashar, and overseen by continental technical observer Abdullah Khamis Al Naqbi.
International, Olympic, and world-level referee Omar Al Marzouqi began his playing career with Al Nasr Club from 1984 to 1998 before transitioning into officiating.
He earned his continental badge in Muscat in 2000 and his international badge in Kuwait in 2003. He was honored with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award and the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sports Excellence Award after officiating the 2011 World Championship final between Germany and Denmark in Greece—breaking the long-standing European monopoly on refereeing handball world finals since the founding of the International Handball Federation. This achievement cemented his name in gold in the history of the sport.
Meanwhile, Sharjah club has secured the UAE Men’s Handball League title for the 20th time in its history and the 10th consecutive season, bringing its total tally to 53 different championships to date.
