Top teams from UAE to play in Ghantoot International Polo Championship

Under the patronage of Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, and with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Ghantoot International Polo Championship will take place from February 21, 2026 to March 7. The details of the championship were announced during a press conference held at club’s headquarters, in the presence of representatives of the participating teams.

The tournament will feature six teams: Ghantoot Team, UAE Team, Abu Dhabi Team, Al Basha Team, Al Habtoor Team, and Bangash Team.

The competition will be held at a 14–16 goal handicap level in accordance with the UAE Polo Federation regulations, reflecting the high level of competition expected among the participating teams.

Saeed Bin Houfan Al Mansouri, Vice Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his unlimited support in ensuring the success of the international championship. He emphasized the club’s commitment to delivering the highest organizational standards and creating a distinguished competitive environment during the holy month of Ramadan.

For his part, Abdulbaset Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the club, confirmed the readiness of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club to organize and host the championship in a special Ramadan atmosphere. He noted that staging polo matches in the evening represents a unique experience, highlighting the club’s world-class facilities that meet international standards for hosting teams and spectators alike, making it one of the most prominent polo experiences internationally.

Matches will be held at the Ghantoot club grounds after Iftar, with the opening game set to feature a highly anticipated clash between Al Habtoor Team and Al Basha Team — a match drawing wide attention given both teams’ strength and consistent presence in major tournaments.

The press conference concluded in a positive and optimistic atmosphere regarding the success of this year’s edition, with the organizing committee confirming the readiness of the fields and all necessary facilities to welcome spectators and polo enthusiasts, further reinforcing the tournament’s status as one of the leading sporting events in the UAE.
