The fourth edition of the World Youth Karate League – Fujairah 2026 continued with thrilling competition, packed stands, and widespread praise for the event’s organization and the UAE’s ongoing support for the sport of karate.
Hosted at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, the championship has drawn thousands of participants, coaches, and officials from around the globe, underscoring the UAE’s growing role on the world karate stage.
On the second day of action, UAE national team member Habiba Yasser Mohieddin Qassem delivered a standout performance, winning the bronze medal in Kumite (Females under 48 kg). In a fiercely contested bout against an opponent from the United States, Habiba imposed her dynamic fighting style and tactical skill to secure the podium finish, adding a proud milestone to Emirati karate achievements.
In addition to the kumite events, athletes displayed elite performances across kata and other weight divisions, highlighting the depth of emerging talent from across continents.
Meanwhile, several rising international stars claimed gold medals in Kumite, including Ruaa Al‑Taher of Egypt, who triumphed in the Women’s over 66 kg category; Abdulrahman Arafat of Saudi Arabia, who took first place in the Men’s under 55 kg division; and Burak Osman of Turkey, who stood atop the podium in the Men’s under 76 kg category.
Sheikh Saeed Bin Srour Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Member of the Federal National Council, praised the high level of organization witnessed during the second day of the World Karate Youth League Fujairah 2026, affirming that the emirate continues to strengthen its prestigious status as a leading destination for hosting and organizing major international sporting events.
This came during his attendance, alongside Sheikha Saeed Al Kaabi, Member of the Federal National Council, at the second-day activities, where they reviewed the progress of the competitions and the overall organization of the event.
They also met with Major General (Retired) Nasser Abdulrazzaq Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the World Karate Federation, Dr. Abdullah Al Badi, the General Coordinator of the championship, and several other officials.
Sheikh Saeed Bin Srour Al Sharqi emphasized that Fujairah’s organizational successes reflect the vision of its wise leadership in supporting the sports sector and enhancing its presence on the international stage. He commended the tremendous efforts of the organizing committees, volunteers, and partners in ensuring the championship’s success and presenting it professionally in line with the highest global standards.
He added that hosting such championships contributes to stimulating sports and tourism, strengthens the emirate’s presence on the international events map, and plays a key role in discovering talent and facilitating the exchange of experiences among participants from different countries.
The second day of competitions witnessed strong public attendance and a lively, energetic atmosphere, supported by precise organization and a comprehensive program that reflects the professional standard of the event, earning wide praise from participants and spectators alike.
Major General Nasser Abdulrazzaq Al Razooqi, Vice President of the World Karate Federation and President of both the UAE Karate Federation and the Asian Karate Federation, emphasized the importance of the Youth League as a launching pad for future champions. He underscored its role in providing high‑level international competition, valuable ranking points, and opportunities for cultural and technical exchange among young competitors.
