FUJAIRAH: The UAE national taekwondo team has strengthened its record of achievements, confirming its continental dominance by winning 13 medals on the final day of the 6th Arab Cup Championship, held in Fujairah, with the participation of 1,228 male and female athletes from across the Arab world.
The concluding competitions witnessed remarkable performances from UAE athletes in the cadet categories, as they continued to demonstrate a strong presence on the mats, translating this excellence into well-deserved podium finishes.
The UAE’s rising stars succeeded in winning three gold medals, achieved by Maria Al Ansari in the under-41 kg category, Reem Youssef in the under-29 kg category, and Azza Osama in the under-44 kg category.
The team also added four silver medals, won by Fatima Saad (over 59 kg), Alia Al Saridi (under 33 kg), Rania Al Nuaimi (under 55 kg), and Salha Saad (under 51 kg).
The medal tally was completed with six bronze medals, earned by Shouq Al Hinai (under 33 kg), Sultan Suleiman (under 33 kg), Majida Al Ketbi (under 47 kg), Abdullah Al Bloushi (under 65 kg), Mariam Jassim (under 59 kg), and Ibrahim Amer (over 65 kg).
These results reflect the bright picture of national sporting achievement and raise the bar for greater ambitions, marking confident steps toward continued success in continental and international competitions.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation, expressed his happiness with the remarkable performance of UAE athletes in both the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and the Arab Cup, noting that the addition of this number of medals reflects the noticeable development in the national team’s technical and skill levels.
Al Zeyoudi confirmed that this progress reflects the extensive efforts made at all levels, while also praising the great success, excellent organization, and strong competition witnessed in both tournaments.
