Tagger triumphs at inaugural Fujairah W100 Championships

Austria’s Lilli Tagger dazzled the courts as she captured the singles crown, while Great Britain’s dynamic duo Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden joined forces to lift the doubles trophy at the inaugural Fujairah ITF Women’s W100, staged at the picturesque Tennis & Country Club Fujairah.

The event was held under the Patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Bin Said Al Sharqi and Abdul Ghafour Behroozian, Chairman of the Board of Fujairah Tennis & Country Club, graced the occasion.

Third seed Tagger produced a display of poise and precision in the final, brushing aside Britain’s Harriet Dart 6-4, 6-2 to secure one of the most significant titles of her career and underline her growing stature on the ITF circuit.

While the singles final proved a hurdle too far, Dart ensured her week in Fujairah ended on a triumphant note in doubles. Teaming up with Maia Lumsden, the British duo delivered a commanding performance, sweeping past top seeds Isabelle Haverlag and Elena Pridankina 6-1, 6-0 to emphatically clinch the championship.

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi congratulated the winners, wishing them continued success in various tournaments.

He also praised the efforts and cooperation of the UAE Tennis and Padel Federation and Tennis & Country Club Fujairah, emphasizing that emirate has successfully positioned itself as an important platform for hosting and organizing tennis tournaments at both the national and international levels.

He called for the strengthening of these efforts, which contribute to achieving a significant leap in the sport.The week-long ITF World Tennis Tour event showcased high-level international competition and further enhanced Fujairah’s reputation as a growing hub for elite tennis.

Players and officials praised the Fujairah Tennis Club for its excellent court conditions, smooth organisation and welcoming atmosphere.
