The Fujairah Martial Arts Club (FMAC) is geared up to host 2026 Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and the Arab Cup.
To be held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, both the event’s are as key fixtures on the emirate's international sporting calendar.
The organisation of both championships is part of the vision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, to support the sports sector, strengthen Fujairah’s presence on the map of international competitions, establish the emirate as a premier destination for major sporting events, thereby contributing to the development of the sports movement and raising the level of competition.
Fujairah Martial Arts Club hosted a press conference to announce the details of Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships and the Arab Cup.
The 13th Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships will be held from February 1-5, 2026, followed by the 6th Arab Cup Championship from February 7-9. Taking place at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, both the championship will witness broad Arab and international participation.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, stated during the conference that hosting these two championships reflects the advanced organizational capabilities the UAE has achieved in managing major sports events according to international standards.
He noted that the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships holds a significant position on the global taekwondo calendar, offering a high level of technicality and valuable ranking points.
“Both championships serve as a technical platform to develop athletes’ skills and enhance Emirati taekwondo's presence on the international stage,” he added.
Nader Abu Shawish, Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, explained that the Organizing Committee has implemented a comprehensive operational plan to ensure the readiness of facilities and all technical and organizational aspects.
He emphasized that the two championships provide a key competitive platform for interaction and experience exchange among athletes from different countries and highlighted the club’s commitment to providing a fully supportive environment to nurture national talent and enhance athletes’ capabilities.

The Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championship is one of the most prominent annual tournaments on the World Taekwondo Federation calendar, carrying a G2 ranking, which grants participants significant points in the global ranking.
Since its launch in 2013, the championship has established itself as one of the most important open competitions worldwide in terms of participation and competitive level.
It is worth noting that the 12th edition of the Fujairah International Open in 2025 set a Guinness World Record with 2,332 participants, including Olympic-level athletes, while recent editions of the Arab Cup have seen participation exceeding 1,000 athletes from various Arab countries, reflecting the continuous growth and significance of both tournaments at the international and Arab levels.
