As part of its ongoing efforts to promote chess and strengthen its presence in schools, Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club organised the School Chess Championship in the Al Ain region. The event was held at the Madaar International School, with the participation of 16 schools and 90 players, aiming to spread chess culture among students and attract promising talents to join the club.
The championship witnessed significant participation from students across the Al Ain region, alongside eight players with special needs, highlighting the club’s commitment to community inclusion and promoting sports participation for everyone.
The tournament was managed and officiated by a team of referees led by International Arbiter Ahmed Al Nuaimi, alongside coaches Khalid Al Jalda, Wael Hassan, and Arij Riyadh.
The event featured a highly organized competitive environment, with a professional setup for the tournament hall, creating a positive and motivating atmosphere for the participating students.
After seven rounds of fierce competition, Omar Mohamed Said claimed first place, followed by Adam Mahmoud Sabry in second and Tariq Osama Ismail in third.
In this context, Sana Thabet, Director of Madaar International School, expressed the school’s pride in hosting the championship, stating that hosting a chess tournament is an educationally significant event that helps develop students’ intelligence and mental skills.
She emphasized that the event aligns with the school’s mission to support holistic education, adding:
"We are keen to nurture students’ critical thinking, strategic planning, and decision-making skills, alongside promoting values of discipline and sportsmanship. The collaboration among participating schools reflects a positive effort in Al Ain to organize a distinguished event worthy of the city’s students and talents."
The tournament was organized under the supervision of the club’s Technical Coordinator, Zainab Al Maamari, reflecting the club’s commitment to managing and executing school-level events at the highest standards, and highlighting its vision of investing in emerging talents and building a strong future base for chess in Al Ain.
