The third day of the 13th edition of the FBMA International Show Jumping Cup 2026 again delivered some impressive performances with the UAE among the countries to win gold in Abu Dhabi.
Organised by Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, the event is held under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and under the guidance and supervision of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and Al Ain Ladies Club.
Al Forsan International Sports Resort saw five categories take place across the day.
The One Round with Jump Off (145cm) was won by UAE’s Abdalla Hamad Alkirbi on Georgina Z, with the Emirati rider holding off Syria’s Layth Ghrayeb, who had to settle for second position. UAE’s Omar Abdulaziz Al Marzooqi, completed the podium after finishing third.
Kirbi, said: “It was a strong competition with young show jumping riders participating as part of the International Academy Championship. Victory in both rounds went to young riders from the UAE. We are pleased to express our gratitude and appreciation to my coach and father, Hamad Alkirbi, and to Sharjah Equestrian Club for their support.”
The day’s schedule also saw UAE’s Mohamed Hamad Ali Al kirbi come out on top, taking gold in the Two Phases (120cms) with a strong performance. There were also reasons to celebrate for Syria as Jawad Nizam and Hicham Gharib took silver and bronze, respectively.
Syria later added to their medal tally in the One Round with Jump Off (125cm) as Mohamed Osama Al Zabibi and Mohamed Fadi Al Zabibi completed a one-two for their country. UAE’s Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi was rewarded with bronze for his efforts.
The Two Phases - 2nd GP Qualifier (140cms) was won by Egypt’s Amr Gamal Mohamed with UAE’s Mohamed Hamad Ali Al Kirbi and Syria’s Amre Hamcho finishing in second and third place.
Spain picked up gold in the Six Bars 140cm following a clinical display from Carlos Bosch Cebrian while silver was shared between Italy’s Simone Coata, UAE’s Sheikh Mohammed Jamal Nasser Rashid Al Nuaimi, and Layth Ghrayeb.
The Fatima Bint Mubarak International Show Jumping Cup 2026 consists of the international competition, which ends on Friday and the national event on Sunday. The international and national events have a total prize money of Dhs1 million.
Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Board Member of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, emphasised the importance of the championship in supporting international and national talent and preparing them for major regional and international events.
She said: “The FBMA International Show Jumping Cup 2026 is part of our on-going efforts to boosting the growth of equestrian in the UAE and it is one of the major sporting competitions in the country’s calendar. It provides a key platform for young and experienced riders to test themselves on a competitive stage that will help support their development so they can excel in the future.
“The performances that we have witnessed signify that equestrian is going from strength to strength in the UAE and we hope more people can be inspired by what they have seen to take up the sport.”
The event is sponsored by a number of organisations including Abu Dhabi Sports Council, FEI, UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, Longines, AlShira’aa, Arabian Horses Society, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Network and Yas TV, SEHA by Pure Health and Al Ain Water.
On the importance of international competition for young riders in the Under-25 category, Khalil Ibrahim, Head of the Championship’s Judging Committee, said: “This is an international competition of a high technical level, offering valuable prizes that support young riders and encourage them to participate in higher-ranked international competitions. As this event is held as part of the Academy Cup Championship, we extend our thanks and appreciation to AlShira’aa Stables for their support and commitment to this important category of show jumping riders in the UAE and the wider Middle East.”
