DUBAI: The 23rd edition of the Dubai International Junior Tennis Championship (J100) got underway on Monday.
The tournament is organized by the UAE Tennis and Padel Federation and hosted at the Top Spin Academy courts in Dubai, under the supervision of the International Tennis Federation, with the participation of 119 male and female players from 44 countries.
The UAE is represented in the championship by players Marwan Nasser Al Marzouqi and Rashid Al Jasmi, along with female player Saeeda Ismail, as part of renewed ambitions for Emirati tennis at the junior level for both genders.
Competing in the girls’ category are several highly ranked players, including China’s Weng Hsia Tung, Ukraine’s Nikolaieva, Canada’s Demers Laurynce, and Russia’s Kojibash and Nasonova.
In the boys’ category, notable ranked players include Canada’s Caden Colburne (154), Egypt’s Omar Kandil (182), and Canada’s Antoine Clavel (223). The tournament also features Arab female players, including Egypt’s Habiba Habib and Tunisia’s Kenza Ksouri.
In this context, the Secretary General of the UAE Tennis and Padel Federation, Saeed Mohammed Al Merri, welcomed the participating players, wishing them success in achieving their ambitions and competing with a high level of sportsmanship. He emphasized that the tournament’s organizing committee is keen to provide the best possible facilities to ensure fair and competitive play, praising the efforts of Top Spin Tennis Academy for hosting the event and ensuring its success.
He also expressed his hope that UAE players will deliver strong and distinguished performances during the championship.
