His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed the 120km Sheikh Mohammed Endurance Ride for Ladies, which was held on Tuesday at Dubai International Endurance City in Seih Al Salam.
The ride is held at the opening of the 19th edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Festival, which includes four races organised by Dubai Equestrian Club in co-operation with the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.
The champions are awarded the Mohammed Bin Rashid Endurance Cup in addition to financial and incentive prizes. The events continue on Wednesday with the holding of the Private Stables Race over a distance of 120 km, which starts at 7am.
Argentine rider Milena Mendez was crowned champion of Sheikh Mohammed Endurance Ride for Ladies, in which 108 female riders from all stables and equestrian clubs in the country participated.
Milena secured the title astride ‘Goldstream’ owned by M7 Endurance Stables after finishing in first place in 4:21:45 hours.
Shamma Darwish came in second place astride ‘SW Arkan’ owned by M7 Stables, while Sarah Mohammed Abdul Wahid came in the third place astride ‘Roshoz”, owned by ‘ABH’ stables.
The winners were crowned by Dr Ghanem Al Hajeri, Secretary General of UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, Ahmed Rashed Al Kaabi, General Manager of Dubai Equestrian Club, and Azizi Developments’ representative.
