The curtain has fallen on the inaugural edition of the Fujairah W75 Championships 2025, organised by the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club in cooperation with the UAE Tennis Federation and under the supervision of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The event, part of the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour, carried the distinction of a W75 classification, offering $60,000 in prize money and awarding valuable WTA ranking points.
The winners were crowned by Abdul Ghafoor Behroozian, Chairman of the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club, and Nasser Yousuf Al Marzouqi, Secretary General of the UAE Tennis Federation, in the presence of James Cooney, Senior Manager of Strategy and Pathway at the ITF, and Hania Reggi, Tournament Director and General Manager of Fujairah Tennis & Country Club.
In the women’s singles competition, Croatian player Petra Marcinko, ranked No. 114, claimed the title after defeating Russia’s Alvetina Ibragimova 6–4, 6–4 in the final.
In the women’s doubles final, the Slovak–Czech pairing of Kristina Penickova and Vendula Valdmannova overcame the Australian–British duo of Olivia Gadecki and Mika Stojsavljevic 6–3, 6–4.
Nasser Yousuf Al Marzouqi congratulated the winners of this maiden edition and praised the efforts of the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club, whose organisation played a key role in the tournament’s success.
He expressed his satisfaction with the high level of competition, noting that 67 players took part, including five local players and several highly ranked international competitors.
“This contributed to strong and competitive matches, especially in the women’s singles final,” he added.
He emphasised that the success of this event enhances the legacy of tournaments previously hosted in Fujairah. He also highlighted the presence of an ITF representative, who commended the championship’s organisation and level of play.
For his part, Abdul Ghafoor Behroozian expressed pride in the success of the Fujairah W75 Championships, stressing that the strong support from the UAE Tennis Federation and the club’s management contributed significantly to this achievement.
He revealed that another tournament will be held in January, featuring a higher classification and $100,000 in prize money. He expects even stronger competition and greater international participation.
He reaffirmed Fujairah’s commitment to supporting tennis at all levels, in cooperation with the UAE Tennis Federation, expressing his hope to see Emirati women competing in future editions.
Reggi described the championships as a valuable addition to the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club calendar. She expressed her delight at welcoming distinguished international players and hosting them in the Emirate of Fujairah.
She affirmed that the club will continue working toward hosting top-tier tournaments and providing the ideal environment for the players.
