The Sharjah Longines Racecourse is set to host a thrilling day of racing, with the second race of the 2025/2026 season.
The highlight of the day will undoubtedly be the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cup, the feature race of the meet, bringing together some of the finest purebred and crossbred horses in a high-stakes showdown.
Supported by the Sharjah Sports Council, the second meeting will see 78 horses compete across six carefully curated races, with a total prize fund of Dhs400,000.
Of particular interest is the main event, the Sheikh Hamdan Cup, sponsored by Longines Prima Luna, which offers Dhs200,000 in prizes, making it the richest race on the card.
The feature race will feature four elite horses aged three and four and above, racing over a distance of 1700 meters.
The competition promises to be fierce, with each contender representing the pinnacle of equine breeding and training, and jockeys aiming for top honors in this prestigious event.
Musabbeh Al Mheiri’s Street Mood and Bhupat Seemar’s Commissioner King are among the favourites.
Made in Dubai, a six-year-old bay gelding by More Than Ready, offers an intriguing wildcard, with pedigree hinting at both speed and stamina, making him a potential dark horse in the mix. The race promises a fascinating clash of youth, experience, and raw talent.
Other races on the card include competitions for purebred Arabians of various age groups, with distances ranging from 1200m to 2000m.
As anticipation builds, the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cup stands out as a true test of skill, stamina, and strategy, ensuring a spectacle that will delight racing enthusiasts.
