The Fujairah Martial Arts Club has announced it will host two major international triathlon events this December.
The 2nd West Asian Triathlon Championship will take place on December 13, 2025, followed by the 6th Fujairah International Triathlon on December 14, 2025.
Both events and their accompanying activities will be held along the Fujairah coastline, with competitions starting in the afternoon and continuing throughout the two days at Al Bahar Hotel.
In addition to the official races, the club has enriched the event with new community activities aimed at promoting sports culture. These include a special race for children, a family race, and a sports village showcasing a variety of sporting goods, along with some of the largest climbing walls in the UAE.
Nader Abu Shaweesh, Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, emphasized that organizing two international triathlon championships aligns with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al-Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and President of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, to promote sports tourism and strengthen Fujairah’s position as a destination for champions.
He added that incorporating community races is a priority for the club to help establish a sustainable and structured sports culture among community members.
Mohsen Al Ali, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated that hosting the West Asian Triathlon Championship for the second consecutive year, alongside the continuity of the Fujairah International Triathlon into its sixth edition, underscores Fujairah’s strong technical and logistical capabilities to host major sporting events. He confirmed that all technical and preparation teams have completed their readiness in cooperation with strategic partners for the two-day event.
Abdul Malik Jani, President of the UAE Triathlon Federation, praised the preparations and readiness for the championships, affirming that the UAE — and Fujairah in particular — is fully prepared to host such events. He also commended the unwavering support of the Crown Prince of Fujairah and his commitment to sustaining and developing sports in the emirate.
The World Triathlon Federation has announced the opening of registration for the West Asian Triathlon Championship in Fujairah. Dr. Tariq Al Khayat, Secretary-General of the West Asias Triathlon Federation, expressed his delight at the growing activity of hosting triathlon championships in Fujairah, highlighting that these events enhance competition among athletes and elevate performance levels.
The triathlon will feature three stages: swimming, cycling, and running, with the winner being the athlete who completes all stages, including transition times, in the shortest total time. The Organizing Committee has set the race distances as follows: the Junior Race for children will cover 150 meters of swimming, 10 kilometers of cycling, and 1.5 kilometers of running; the Super Sprint Distance for UAE nationals (men and women) will consist of 350 meters swimming, 10 kilometers cycling, and 2.5 kilometers running; the Sprint Distance will include 750 meters swimming, 20 kilometers cycling, and 5 kilometers running; and the Olympic Distance will feature 1,500 meters swimming, 40 kilometers cycling, and 10 kilometers running.
Expatriate participants will compete over the same distances as UAE nationals across all categories. The West Asian Championship will follow the Sprint Distance format, while the community races for children and families will consist of a 1-kilometer running event.
