Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, met with Marian Kovacevic, President of the World Federation for Chess Composition, at Al Rumaila Palace in Fujairah.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdullah Ali AAl Barakat, Vice President of the International Chess Composition Federation and Chairman of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club.
During the meeting, Crown Prince of Fujairah discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Emirate of Fujairah and the federation in the field of chess, as well as support initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of creative thinking and logical analysis across society, particularly among youth.
The meeting emphasized the role of chess in developing mental capabilities and fostering a spirit of positive competition.
Sheikh Mohammed affirmed the emirate’s commitment, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, to support sports and cultural activities that nurture intellect and refine talents.
He highlighted the importance of various types of sports in shaping a creative generation capable of strategic and innovative thinking across different fields.
For his part, Kovacevic expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed for the warm reception and his interest in chess, as well as for supporting initiatives that enhance the sport’s status in society.
He emphasized that collaboration with the Emirate of Fujairah will contribute to developing high-quality projects that promote chess both locally and internationally. He also praised the pioneering initiative sponsored by Sheikh Mohammed— the Grand Prix Championship — which is conducted through international qualification across four European stages, culminating in the final competition in Fujairah at the end of 2026.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Crown Prince of Fujairah’s Office, Salem Al Zahmi, Advisor at the Crown Prince’s Office, the accompanying delegation from the International Chess Composition Federation, and several members of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club team.
