The UAE Taekwondo Federation successfully concluded the UAE Open Taekwondo Championship, marking the first event of the 2025 sporting season.
The championship took place on October 18–19 at the Sharjah Individual Games Club Hall in Al Hazana, Sharjah, with the participation of 24 clubs representing the top Taekwondo teams in the country. A total of 421 athletes — 235 male and 186 female competitors — took part in the two-day event, which showcased a high level of skill and sportsmanship.
The competition witnessed intense and spirited bouts across all categories, reflecting the rapid development of Taekwondo in the UAE.
In the juniors category, Fujairah Martial Arts Club claimed first place, followed by Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club in second place, and Sharjah Individual Games Club in third.
In the cadets category, Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club emerged champion, Fujairah Martial Arts Club secured second place, while King Wolf Club finished third.
The girls’ category witnessed strong performances, with Sharjah Women’s Sports Club taking first place, Fujairah Martial Arts Club earning second, and Kalba Women’s Sports Club claiming third.
Finally, in the youth girls category, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club once again dominated the competition, achieving first place, followed by Fujairah Martial Arts Club in second place, and Kalba Women’s Sports Club in third.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi congratulated all winners for their outstanding performances and extended his appreciation to the organizing committee and technical staff for their efforts in ensuring the championship’s success. He noted that the current Taekwondo season will feature 11 major championships approved by the Federation Council and highlighted the federation’s commitment to development through training and qualification courses for coaches, administrators, and referees in preparation for the season.
Dr. Zeyoudi concluded by wishing continued success to the UAE Taekwondo family and all its members, emphasizing the federation’s vision of promoting excellence, discipline, and fair play.
The UAE Open Taekwondo Championship serves as the opening event of the new season, to be followed by the UAE–Korea Friendship Championship for youth, men, and women, scheduled for November 1.
