The Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club were crowned champion of the 2025 Women’s General League after delivering an outstanding performance and absolute dominance throughout the competition.
The team achieved victory in all home and away chess games against every participating club across the country — without a single loss or draw — to claim the historic title with a perfect score, marking an unprecedented achievement in the history of the tournament and reaffirming its supremacy in Emirati women’s chess.
Al Ain began their campaign with a well-deserved 4–2 victory over Abu Dhabi Chess Club, and continued their winning streak throughout the season, concluding with a 6–0 win against Sharjah, followed by a decisive 5–1 triumph over Dubai Chess and Cultural Club. With this, the team confirmed their complete dominance and secured the title flawlessly — without any draws or defeats.
The Al Ain players showcased exceptional performance characterised by harmony and a strong fighting spirit.
The team was represented by world champion, Engineer Wafia Darwish Al Maamari, the UAE and Asian Blitz Chess Champion; International Master Cecile Haussernot, the champion of France and Europe; Dr. Wedema Al Kalbani, Zainab Darwish Al Maamari, Mouza Nasser Al Shamsi, Sheikha Abdullah Al Marikhi, and Sheikha Nasser Al Shamsi, who all demonstrated exemplary professionalism and discipline both on and off the board. The team also included International Master Mona Al Harmoudi, Engineer Mouza Al Mansouri, and Amal Fadel Al Shamsi.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Sultan bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club, expressed his pride and joy over this remarkable achievement, stating: “We dedicate this precious victory to our wise leadership — to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him; His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohammed Bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; and Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region — as well as to the loyal fans of Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club.

Hisham Al Taher, Managing Director and CEO of Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club, affirmed that this achievement is the natural result of accumulated experience and the continuous efforts of the players and coaching staff under the supervision of the club’s technical management. He emphasized that this success is the fruit of collaboration and harmony between the Board of Directors and the executive team. He praised the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and its various departments for their ongoing support in meeting the club’s needs and overcoming challenges.
