The Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club concluded the Rabi’ Al Thani Rapid Chess Tournament, held at the club’s headquarters in Al Ain.
The event featured wide participation across different age groups and drew an enthusiastic audience that added a lively and competitive atmosphere throughout the tournament.
The championship showcased a high technical level and intense matches that remained closely contested until the final round. Ghaith Safsouf Al Nuaimi ultimately secured the title with an outstanding performance, taking first place, while Ahmed Younes Al Khumeiri finished second, and Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi came in third. The narrow margins among the top players reflected the remarkable development in the participants’ skills.
The award ceremony was held in a festive atmosphere, with International Arbiter Mouza Al Maamari honoring the winners and presenting trophies and medals.
The event also included the recognition of several promising young talents who excelled in various categories. Sheikha Abdullah Al Marikhi received the award for Best Emirati Female Player, while Abdullah Adel Al Shuaili was named Best Emirati Male Player.
In the age group categories, Hamdan Salah Heidra and Sheima Khaled Al Obaidli stood out in the Under-14 category, while Saeed Nasser Al Shamsi and Fatima Nasser Al Shamsi impressed in the Under-12 group. Hamdan Al Ali and Latifa Khaled Al Obaidli shined in the Under-10 category, and both Hamdan Obaid Al Zaabi and Maryam Al Kindi delivered strong performances in the Under-8 group. The Academy Awards went to Ahmed Mohammed Saeed and Talin Asliyeh.
Advisor Yousef Saeed Ahmed Al Afreet Al Kuwaiti praised the excellent organization and the high technical standards displayed by the participants.
He emphasized that the tournament has become an important platform for discovering national talents and developing a new generation of champions who will represent the UAE in regional and international arenas. He also highlighted that such events help promote the culture of chess and enhance Al Ain’s status as a leading sports destination.
