With determination and growing confidence, the UAE national golf team is entering the final stretch of their preparation programme for the 3rd Asian Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Bahrain from October 22-31.
The team have intensified their daily training sessions, reflecting their ambition to achieve the highest levels of readiness for this prestigious continental event.
The preparation journey began with a highly successful external training camp in Morocco, where the team trained for three weeks under a comprehensive and carefully designed programme.
The coaching staff placed strong emphasis on the technical, physical, and mental aspects of the game, ensuring a well-rounded build-up toward competition. In addition, the players participated in the monthly tournaments organised by the Emirates Golf Federation, which played a vital role in sharpening their competitive edge and improving consistency ahead of the official contests.
The UAE delegation to Bahrain will be led by Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, and includes head coach Cameron Van Rooyen.
Representing the UAE in the youth division (individual and team) are talented golfers Abdullah Salmeen, Mohammed Thabet, and Marwan Al Amadi.
The women’s division (individual and team) will feature promising young golfers Sarah Ali Abubakr, Asia Saleem, and Anka Mateo, all of whom have shown great commitment and steady progress throughout the preparation phase.
Major General (Ret.) Abdullah Al Hashmi, President of the Emirates Golf Federation, praised the team’s dedication and the comprehensive support provided to ensure their success.
“The federation has spared no effort in delivering all the resources necessary for our players’ technical and physical development — from international training camps to structured domestic programs,” said Hashmi.
“Our aim is to ensure that every player reaches peak readiness and is fully prepared to represent the UAE with pride and distinction at the Asian Youth Games.”
He added: “We have great confidence in our players and believe they will make the nation proud through their performance and sportsmanship. Their efforts reflect not only their personal dedication but also the unwavering support that golf in the UAE enjoys from our wise leadership, the National Olympic Committee, and the Federation itself.”
As the countdown to Bahrain continues, the UAE team stands poised and motivated, embodying the spirit of ambition, teamwork, and excellence that defines Emirati sport.
With a blend of experienced leadership and youthful enthusiasm, the team’s journey reflects a broader vision — to elevate UAE golf onto the Asian and international stage with performance, pride, and perseverance.
