The People of Determination category of the Youth Muay Thai World Championship-Abu Dhabi 2025 concluded with great success, under the supervision of the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA) and organized by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation in collaboration with Special Olympics UAE.
The event highlighted powerful values of inclusion, determination, and perseverance, reflecting the highest ideals of sport and its humanitarian role.
The competition reaffirmed Muay Thai’s position as a platform that promotes equality and diversity. Athletes from around the world delivered exceptional performances in thrilling bouts filled with strength and resilience, drawing wide audience engagement and strong attendance.
The closing and award ceremony was attended by Dr. Sakchai Tapsuwan, President of IFMA, Stephan Fox, Secretary General of IFMA, and Ali Khouri, Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation. During the ceremony, IFMA extended its gratitude to the UAE Federation and honored Special Olympics UAE for their distinguished contribution.

He concluded by emphasizing that the championship, with its wide-ranging programs and activities, marks a significant milestone in the growth of Muay Thai both regionally and globally, strengthening Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading international hub for major sporting events.
On the participation of Special Olympics UAE athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of Special Olympics UAE, said: “We are proud of the participation of 15 athletes with determination in the Abu Dhabi 2025 Youth Muay Thai World Championship, the largest event of its kind globally for this age category. This is an important step forward in our efforts to integrate People of Determination into different sports, particularly those requiring physical strength and courage in competition. Including Muay Thai within Special Olympics UAE’s national activities reaffirms our commitment to broadening support and encouragement, giving our athletes opportunities to shine in new and challenging sports in cooperation with the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation.
