Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the 17th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be hosted in the UAE this November.
More than 10,000 international male and female athletes will compete in the world’s largest and most prestigious event on the global jiu-jitsu calendar.
Abdulmonem Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his sincere gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the continuous support for sports in the country, and to Sheikh Khaled for patronage of this landmark global event.
Al Hashemi said, “Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has achieved global prominence and evolved into a world-class platform for nurturing talents, and preparing champions and skilled athletes to proudly represent the UAE in international arenas and further reinforce Abu Dhabi’s status as the global capital of jiu-jitsu.”
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has revealed the official schedule for the 11-day event, with competitions beginning on Nov.12 in the Amateur category. The Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival, which includes events for infants, kids and juniors, will take place from Nov. 13-15, alongside Para Jiu-Jitsu competitions on Nov. 13.
The Youth and Junior categories will compete on Nov. 16-17, followed by the Master events on Nov. 18-19. The championship will conclude with the Professional competitions, running from Nov. 20-22.
The 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship builds on a legacy of excellence that spans 16 years, strengthening the championship’s standing as a premier global sporting event that merges elite athletic performance with cultural engagement. The championship reflects Abu Dhabi’s vision of promoting sports as a way of life and fostering a healthy, active community culture.
Meanwhile, the AJP Tour Fujairah International Jiu-Jitsu Championship concluded on Sunday after three days of world-class competition that brought together more than 1,000 athletes from the youth, amateur, and professional divisions, representing clubs from across the globe.
The event saw Commando Group claim the top spot with 58,025 points, followed by M.O.D Academy in second place with 26,250 points, while Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club secured third with 16,950 points.
Across the three days, a total of 695 medals were awarded including 258 gold, 249 silver, and 188 bronze highlighting the athletes’ determination and the growing strength of the sport both regionally and internationally.
The championship reflected the UAE’s continued commitment to supporting jiu-jitsu and enhancing its global standing by providing athletes with a high-level competitive environment where they can develop their skills, gain valuable ranking points, and prepare for future milestones.
The closing ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, along with senior sports officials and representatives of participating clubs.
Speaking on the occasion, Yousef Al Batran, UAEJJF Board Member, said, “This tournament is not only remarkable for its wide participation but also for its excellent organisation and high technical level. It provides an ideal platform to discover and develop new talent, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to investing in sports and supporting the growth of jiu-jitsu both locally and internationally.”
