Dubai Sports Council will mark Emirati Women’s Day on August 27 by organizing a walk and run at Dubai Mall as part of the ‘Dubai Mallathon’ initiative, launched under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The Dubai Sports Council has invited women of all nationalities, ages and fitness levels to take part in this initiative held in celebration of Emirati Women’s Day.
The occasion is organized under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, under the theme “Hand in Hand, Celebrating 50 years” marking the 50th anniversary of the General Women’s Union.
These celebrations represent a national tribute to the community partnership and the sustained achievements of Emirati women over five decades, reinforcing the UAE’s vision to foster national solidarity and affirm women’s role as essential partners in the country’s development.
The council places special emphasis on women’s sports, aiming to support and empower female participation across all fields. Its annual calendar features a wide range of programs, tournaments and activities dedicated to women, which has attracted large numbers of participants—from school students to employees and homemakers.
This has helped build a broad base of female athletes and prepare them to become a talent pipeline for club teams and national squads capable of winning titles and delivering success on various stages.
‘Dubai Mallathon’ activities are held daily across nine of Dubai’s leading shopping destinations: Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Marina Mall, The Springs Souk, Dubai Festival City Mall, and Festival Plaza. Safe, fully equipped indoor routes are designated for walking and running from 7am to 10am. throughout the remainder of August, enabling community-wide participation and encouraging the integration of sport into daily routines.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Mallathon initiative targets all segments of society, including youth, senior citizens, residents, children, and shopping mall employees.
Designed to foster an active lifestyle in a supportive setting, the initiative incorporates motivational tools such as fitness-tracking systems, health awareness stations, dedicated children’s areas, and guided stretching exercises.
This community-driven experience not only encourages participation but also raises awareness about the importance of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
