Under the directives and generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the San Sebastian Racecourse will, for the first time, host the prestigious UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian.
The race marks the 32nd edition of the series and its inaugural staging in Spain in its new format.
The cup series, held under the patronage of the UAE’s wise leadership, aims to develop the Arabian horse racing industry, support owners and breeders worldwide, and promote the breeding and ownership of the Purebred Arabian horse, preserving its authentic heritage and elevating its global standing.
The Spanish leg is the ninth stop of the 2025 UAE President’s Cup Series and is the richest Arabian race in Spanish racing history, with a total prize fund of €200,000. This Group 3 race, contested over 1,600 metres, will feature an elite line-up of Purebred Arabians aged four years and above from Spain and across Europe.
The upcoming race promises strong UAE representation, headlined by four standout contenders: Alwarry, owned by Faisal Al Rahmani; RB Malexis, owned by Saif Bakheet Saif Murshed Al Marar; Al Wakrah, from Al Shaqab Racing; and Al Zwair, owned by Mme. D. Waldron.
They will face tough competition from other notable runners, including Extra Time, Kanti de Bozouls, Lino, and Zakyna Al Zarayan, ensuring a high-quality field and an exciting battle on the track.
Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of the UAE President’s Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, said: “We are delighted to bring the UAE President’s Cup to Spain, adding a significant new chapter to our 2025 race calendar. This reflects our commitment to geographical diversity in staging the series and to supporting Purebred Arabian horse owners and breeders in Europe and worldwide.
“The Spanish leg holds great importance in advancing our development plans and elevating Arabian racing to the highest international standards.
“Reaching our ninth stop this season with exceptional feedback and the richest prize money in Spanish Arabian racing history is a testament to the positive impact and major gains achieved by the UAE President’s Cup in various racecourses around the world. The series has become the top destination for leading studs and stables, boasting the highest levels of competition – which in turn benefits breeding, production, and global interest in the Purebred Arabian.”
He added: “We are proud of the Higher Organising Committee’s achievements in the previous rounds and look forward to maintaining exceptional results in the upcoming races, in line with the vision and guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose generous support has made our races the most prestigious and valuable in the history of Purebred Arabian horse racing globally.”
