In a landmark moment for UAE sports, the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding (IFBB), headquartered in Spain, has conferred a prestigious Doctorate in Bodybuilding upon Dr. Walid Abdulkarim — making him the first-ever Emirati national to receive this distinguished honor. The achievement marks a historic milestone for the nation’s bodybuilding community and adds a new chapter to the country’s growing legacy in strength and fitness sports.
The honour was formally presented by IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja during a special ceremony held on the sidelines of the Asian Championship, an event hosted and organized by the Ajman Department of Tourism Development in collaboration with both the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation and the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding.
Dr. Walid hailed the doctorate as a significant step forward in his personal and professional journey, noting that it would fuel his ambitions in both the academic and sporting arenas. As Director of the IFBB Academy for Bodybuilding and Fitness in Dubai and a seasoned international judge at numerous high-profile competitions worldwide, he pledged to leverage his new credentials to raise the standard of bodybuilding in the UAE and inspire future generations.
He expressed deep gratitude to the Board of Directors of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, led by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, for their unwavering support.
Dr. Walid also extended heartfelt thanks to the President of the IFBB Academy, Colonel (Ret.) Abdulkarim Mohammed Saeed, and the Academy’s members, acknowledging their encouragement and guidance throughout his studies.
With this accolade, Dr. Walid not only cements his own place in the sport’s history but also sets a shining example of Emirati excellence, determination, and leadership on the global bodybuilding stage.
