Baseball Governing Committee look to spur sport's growth in UAE

The Baseball Governing Committee (BGC) comprising Dr Tayyab Kamali (committee chairman), Zayed Abbas and Mubashshir Usmani continues to explore the sport’s development and growth opportunities in the UAE. Baseball’s governance was placed under the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) by the UAE government two years ago.

The Baseball Governing Committee has since then actively worked on the development of the sport in the UAE especially at the grassroots level.

Baseball Governing Committee Chairman Dr Tayyab Kamali said: “The Emirates Cricket Board remains committed to the growth of baseball and will continue to create opportunities for the sport’s promotion by nurturing talent, setting up baseball academies and by staging world-class events across the country."

 The committee has also explored partnership opportunities with various Baseball entities from around the world – a series of exciting announcements will be made in due course.”In the coming months, the ECB will unveil detailed plans on Baseball’s growth and development across the UAE.

Baseball is one of the most followed sports around the world including millions of fans hailing from all over the world who reside in the UAE.

The sports is popular not only amongst the North American expats based in the UAE but also cuts through European, Southeast Asian and South Asian expats underlining its global popularity and appeal. With UAE’s unique placement as a melting pot for nationalities from around the world, the sport of Baseball is set to make a massive impact and surge on the popularity charts to compete with other major sports played and followed in the country.
