Al Salam Cycling Championship, HIPA launch photography contest

The Supreme Organizing Committee of the Al Salam Cycling Championship has announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind photography contest in collaboration with the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA).
This initiative will take place during the ninth edition of the championship, organized by the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai.
The championship is considered the largest community cycling event globally in terms of diversity and financial prizes, which amount to Dhs3.5 million.
The Supreme Organizing Committee invites all photographers to participate and capture the most exciting and dynamic moments of cycling during the four races of the ninth edition. The event kicks off on December 29, 2024, with the UAE Amateur Men’s Race, followed by the Elite Men’s Race on January 19, 2025, the Desert Race on February 9, 2025, and finally, the Women’s Race on February 16, 2025.
Three prizes will be awarded for the best photos from each race, with the first-place winner receiving Dhs2,000, the second-place winner Dhs8,000, and the third-place winner Dhs5,000.
Majid Abdulrahman Al Bastaki, a member of the Higher Organizing Committee and Head of the Media Committee, stated: “Under the directives of Omair Bin Jumaa Al Falasi, Director-General of the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Al Salam Cycling Championship, we are pleased to launch this award. This initiative aligns with the routes chosen for the ninth edition’s races, aiming to document Dubai’s beauty and splendor during this time of the year, combined with the competitive spirit of cycling.
“It also provides an opportunity for talented photographers to showcase their skills and be recognized through dedicated awards for each race.”
Bastaki praised the partnership with the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award, highlighting its leadership and influence across cultural, intellectual, and artistic spheres.
He expressed confidence that this collaboration would enrich the Al Salam Cycling Championship and enhance its status as a prominent community event.
