The Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) has successfully conducted a series of seminars alongside the eighth Jiu-Jitsu Asian Championship, to refine technical proficiency among individuals associated with the sport. Tailored to enrich the skills of referees, support staff, and officials, these seminars provided participants with insights into the latest rules and practices.

Led by top referees and experts within the jiu-jitsu and wider sports industry, the seminars covered a diverse array of topics, including safeguarding, inclusive self-defence rules, doping regulations and tournament protocols. Notably, the anti-doping seminar athletes attended was conducted by experts from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

With a presence of over a hundred participants, including officials from JJAU and various national federations, the seminars served as a platform for dynamic knowledge exchange and skill enhancement opportunities. Eight sessions were organised in total.

Alexandre Nascimento, Head Referee at the JJAU, emphasised the significance of these seminars in advancing participants' technical acumen. "JJAU is committed to continually enhancing the capabilities of technical staff across our National Federation members," he said adding, "Our objective is to increase the number of skilled and certified referees."

Nascimento further elaborated on the seminar for referees, which included theoretical exams during seminars, followed by practical examinations conducted during the competitions. He noted that successful candidates will receive official diplomas from the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation.

Currently, JJAU boasts 45 certified referees, from 15 different countries in Asia, underscoring the organisation's commitment to fostering excellence in jiu-jitsu.
