Fourth edition of Dubai Master RC Championship off to perfect start

The fourth edition of the Dubai Master RC Championship at the SkyHub RC campus in Al Lisaili flying field on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.

The competition for RC Aircraft is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

Ghanem Mubarak Al Hajri, Director General of the General Authority for Sports, witnessed the evening round of the opening day of the championship.

He was joined by Yousef Hassan Al Hammadi, Vice President of the Emirates Aerosport Federation (EAF) and Director of the Organizing Committee, Mohammed Yousef Abdul Rahman, Secretary General and Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee, Abdullah Murad, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Logistics Committee, and Tariq Al Saadi, Director of the Championship, and Mohammed Noor Hakimi Ismail, President of the Asian Aerosport Federation and Edmund CS, Technical Advisor to the Asian Federation.

Hajri expressed his great satisfaction at attending the opening round and watching the performances presented by the international aviators, demonstrating their ability to excel and innovate in one of the most rapidly evolving sports. He also praised the performance of the Emirati trio, Jassem Al-Ketbi, Abdullah Al-Rais, and Thamer Al-Shamsi, who successfully participated in the first round, encouraging our youth to engage in such sports that rely on mental, scientific, and creative excellence.

He stressed that he is confident that the Emirati athletes will spare no effort to raise the name and flag of our country in all regional, continental and international championships and sports events, enhancing the reputation and prestigious status of the UAE internationally, especially in sports, in line with the visions and directives of our wise leadership.

The Director General of the General Authority for Sports thanked the Emirates Aerosport Federation for its sincere and continuous efforts to ensure the success of all the sports events it organizes with excellence, in an effort to spread the culture of the game in the UAE and the region.

The first day of the championship witnessed fierce competition between the world champions, especially the Italy’s Mirko Cesena ian Mirco and the American Nicholas Maxwell, the champion of the second edition.

The round also saw the participation of three pilots from the UAE: Ketbi, Rais and Shamsi.

World champion Tariq Al-Saadi, the tournament director, explained that each pilot is given three minutes in each round to showcase their aerial skills through vertical, horizontal, and acrobatic maneuvers, including takeoffs and landings, with each movement being assigned a specific score by the committee to assess the pilots' skills and then rank them for qualification to the final.
