UAE welcomes Saudi Arabia’s plan to bid to host 2034 FIFA World Cup

The UAE has welcomed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s announcement of its intention to bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

The UAE expresses its full support for Saudi Arabia in hosting this major global event. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasised that Saudi Arabia possesses the capacity, facilities, advanced infrastructure, and achievements in multiple areas to host a distinguished edition of the World Cup.

The Ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia has exhibited a successful record in hosting prestigious, high-profile events, which underscores that the country will endeavour to deliver an exceptional edition of this tournament to the world.

In this regard, the Ministry expressed its wishes for further progress and prosperity for Saudi Arabia and its people.

Meanwhile, the UAE has also congratulated the Kingdom of Morocco on winning the bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed its confidence that Morocco has the expertise to host a prestigious edition of the tournament, given its organisational capabilities, human resources, and numerous achievements in the field of sports.

The Ministry also expressed confidence that the Kingdom, along with Spain and Portugal, will deliver a spectacular event to the world and congratulated the King of Morocco, the Moroccan government, and its people on their well-deserved success in securing the hosting of this significant football tournament.

Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday it plans to bid to host the 2034 World Cup.

News of the bid comes one year after neighbouring Qatar hosted the first World Cup in the Middle East, where the Saudi national team scored a stunning group stage victory over eventual winners Argentina.
