Anticipation--Jiu-Jitsu-Abu-Dhabi-750

The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship will feature over 6,000 male and female athletes from more than 100 countries.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation is gearing up for the highly anticipated 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the largest and most prestigious event on the global jiu-jitsu calendar.

The event will be hosted at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City from November 1 to 11, featuring over 6,000 male and female athletes from more than 100 countries.

The dedicated organizing committee proudly reports an overwhelming surge in registration demand, with rates soaring past the 50% mark a full two months ahead of the competition’s commencement.

In light of the strong participation, it’s possible that registration may reach capacity before the designated deadline.

Therefore, the committee urges all potential participants to expedite their registration processes to secure their place in this prestigious event.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the championship, said: “The generous patronage of the championship by Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan serves as a tremendous incentive for us in our efforts to ensure the 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is executed to the highest standards.

“We are committed to making it an exceptional edition, continuing our legacy of achievements, successes, and global leadership in the sport.”

“Over the years, Abu Dhabi has become synonymous with hosting world-class sporting tournaments and events, making it the top choice for elite sports stars. This reputation is owed to its exceptional capabilities and the fulfillment of all prerequisites to offer extraordinary and unparalleled tournaments, attracting thousands of athletes from diverse countries worldwide.” Dhaheri added.

Dhaheri underscores that the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship exemplifies the remarkable progress Jiu-Jitsu has achieved in the UAE, underlining its alignment with various national strategic values and objectives.

“The championship serves annual gift from the UAE to Jiu-Jitsu enthusiasts across the globe, being the largest gathering of elite players from around the world. The event plays a pivotal role in discovering talent, nurturing, and preparing champions, and propelling them into the international stage.” Dhaheri continued.

The championship organizing committee has announced that preparations for the 15th edition began several months ago with close oversight and continuous guidance toward subcommittees and work teams.

They have been in constant communication with all partners and institutions from both the public and private sectors, commending the fruitful cooperation with all stakeholders in providing the necessary elements for the event’s success. It is noted that Abu Dhabi is currently prepared to welcome participating delegations in accordance with the highest international quality standards.

The subcommittees, under the guidance of the organizing committee, are actively conducting a series of meetings with relevant authorities, including security, tourism, health, and volunteer organizations, as well as other partners, to ensure the success of the tournament.

Last year, UAE’s Zayed Al Kathiri created history by becoming the first-ever black belt holder in the country to win a gold at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

The star of Baniyas Club and the national team won gold on the final day of the competition by outperforming Brazilian Nathannael Fernandes.

With his explosive fighting style combining powerful takedowns, lightning-fast submissions, and aggressive technique, Kathiri has quickly made a name for himself in the jiu-jitsu world. Winning numerous titles at both national and international level, including multiple gold medals across multiple belt categories at the Abu Dhabi World Pro and various AJP Tour events.
