A 16-year-old Tunisian wrestler Hadeel Kahouli died on Friday after drowning in the sea.

Kahouli won the bronze medal in the last African Championship.

The Tunisian Sports Federation mourned Kahouli, in a statement saying: "With all sorrow and heartbreak, we learned today about the death of the champion of the national youth team and the wrestler of Al Mostaqbal Al Reqab Club in Sidi Bouzid governorate, the daughter of Tunisia, Hadeel Kahouli, the Tunisian champion and the bronze medalist of the African championship. We pray to Allah Almighty to rest her in peace and have mercy on her and forgive her."

The body of the deceased was found after a search operation on the coast of Tabarka, northwest.

It is worth noting that in 2022, the 17-year-old sailing champion, Aya Kazkaz, died during the Tunisian sailing team's training session.
