National Olympic Committee reviews Sharjah Sports Council's initiatives including Sports City

Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Vice President of National Olympic Committee met with the delegation of Sharjah Sports Council at the committee's headquarters in Dubai in presence of Dr Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi Vice President of Olympic Committee and Head of the Executive Office.

Sheikh Rashid reviewed the council's efforts, initiatives, and programmes to provide an appropriate sports environment that contributes to enhancing the level of UAE sports, in relation to competitive and community sports.

Sharjah Sports Council's delegation was headed by the Council Chairman his Excellency Eisa Hilal Al Hazami accompanied by Engineer Asmaa Ayoub Al Balushi head of Sports Facilities and follow-up section, Engineer Mona Obaid Al Shamsi head of Project Design Division, and Engineer Mohammad Tariq Abu Al Saud head of Projects Implementation Division.

The meeting began by emphasizing the importance of activating the role of sports entities in a coordinating manner in which objectives and visions are shared and unified towards building a strong base for successive generations, meeting the requirements of the next phase of action strategies with specific dimensions in line with the volume of continued support and assistance provided by the wise leadership, following cabinet's approving the National Sports Strategy 2031 based on ambitious plans opening the way for all sports entities to present innovative ideas and solutions to improve the UAE sports.

Both vice presidents of National Olympic Committee listened to Sharjah Sports Council delegation's explanation on Sports City'sproject, where the project's facilities include such suitable space for individual and team sports athletes, without affecting each other, duly and properly equipped to welcome the people who would like to practice sports at the same time and location 24 hours a day, flexibly, readily, and efficiently, with community welcomed and included.

During the meeting, a presentation was made on the future of sports facilities in the Sports City. The presentation included various games such as halls and stadiums for team, individual, and combat games, in addition to athletics and football games.

During the discussions, the focus was made on the best ways to promote the social and community engagement and the best ways to further the sports culture among the community to reach up to 71%, in addition to focusing on the talented people and refining their various sports talents, and the best ways to have professional players who can realize various achievements.

Sheikh Rashid stressed that UAE National Olympic Committee headed by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, takes all such national efforts exerted by various sports bodies and institutions into consideration and welcomes the endeavors aimed at raising the level of the Olympic movement and enhancing the level of sport of the UAE, which is an advanced pioneering model in line with the UAE's position and reputation in various sectors, encouraging such practices based on scientific standards, foundations and clear plans to become a pillar and added-value to the fields of sports work, receiving all kinds of support, care, and attention from the wise leadership.

Hazami stated: “We are happy with today's discussions during the meeting and the presentation made towards developing sports in the UAE and Dubai by presenting innovative visions to develop the sports system technically and administratively in line with the directives made by the wise leadership in general and the directives and visions of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Member of the Supreme Council Ruler of Sharjah in particular, providing to the athletes all elements of success and excellence at various levels.

“We at Sharjah Sports Council are fully prepared to cooperate with all sports federations and councils to develop sports, promote the national Olympic movement, and follow up on all developments and necessary requirements during the coming period,” he added.
